The center is located in the Institute of Applied Mechanics of National Taiwan University, with a total area of 300 square meters. Its space is divided into: administrative room, photolithography room, analysis room, etching room, CVD room, facility room, etc. In 2016, we added a new building of Complex for Research Excellence, increasing the space area to more than 1500 square meters, and the cleanliness level of cleanroom was upgraded to CLASS 100 and CLASS 1000. To date, the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) and the school have invested more than 300 million NTD in hardware equipment. In order to establish an open laboratory system and ensure that teachers, students in various departments and the industry can effectively use the central laboratory, laboratory operation management emphasizes the four major elements of safety, environmental protection, quality and service. Its characteristics are:
Research Objectives
The role of the research center is to enable the system integration and offer the research of basic process technology. Each department plays the role of vertical division of labor and is committed to developing its expertise and technology through horizontal integration of key industries development plans, such as information, communications, semiconductors, automation and biomedicine, etc. At the same time, cooperate with country's relevant industry development strategies, we will accelerate the development of country's NEMS technology and NEMS industry. Since its establishment, the research center has actively engaged in research related to NEMS in conjunction with all universities, research institutions, and industries.
Academic Activities
The center has planned a series of education training courses and seminars to provide complete professional training for academia and industry. The contents of current education training courses are as follows: credit courses, basic technical training courses, industrial safety and health training courses, and machine training and qualification courses. wait. Currently, a total of more than 19,736 people have received various professional training courses and special topics of the center, and more than 4,092 people have obtained the qualifications of general use of the center's laboratories, and another 7,856 people have obtained the qualifications to use various machines. Among the users, the ratio between National Taiwan University and other schools is about 6:4, and they come from various departments and fields, which is in line with the basic concept of open laboratories and talent cultivation of the center. The center also promotes the "Nanotechnology Program" on the National Taiwan University campus, integrating faculty from the College of Engineering and the College of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science to launch cross-field programs to meet the demand for nanotechnology talents.
Industry-Academic Collaboration
In order to promote the development of the NEMS industry and the sustainable operation of the center, the key works of industry-academic cooperation are talent cultivation, technical services, and technology co-development. The center integrate the rich research and innovation resources of top laboratories in various fields and nearly 500 professors from the College of Engineering and the College of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science of National Taiwan University to help the industry find the most suitable academic technologies and promote the technology transfer of patents and intellectual property, accept project commissions from the industry, assist in solving practical problems, and execute the pilot study on industry-academic cooperation.
Future Prospect
The NEMS research center of the College of Engineering and Electrical Engineering of & Computer Science of National Taiwan University has been established for 17 years and is entering its 18th year. In terms of operational management, in order to effectively utilize research resources, expand the margins of process technology, ensure R&D quality and accelerate talent cultivation, the established key points of future planning are:
(1) Nano-electro-mechanical technology.
(2) Standard technical database.
(3) Online version of common textbooks on micro-electro-mechanical and nano-electro-mechanical technology.
For the future development of the NEMS research center, we will serve as a bridge between academia and industry, establish core technologies for micro/nano electro-mechanical-system processes, promote forward-looking and pioneering research, and become a window for international exchange of NEMS technology, and also hope that our country's micro/nano electro-mechanical field can occupy a place in the world.
